Flex.org Showcase Launches

Adobe just launched one of our latest projects, the Flex.org Showcase.
This was a great project and we’re very proud of how it turned out. From the beginning, we wanted to create an experience that not only showcases the amazing applications people have created with Flex, but also demonstrated the power of Flex as a development environment.
The Adobe team did an amazing job integrating the backend, which is powered by Drupal, an open source PHP framework. Hats off to Mike Potter and his crew. It was a pleasure and an honor to work with them.
The Showcase app itself doesn’t look very “Flex-like”, as a matter of fact, many people have asked if it was done in Flash. A big part of the project was making sure that we could use Flex to produce the exact experience that our design team wanted to bring to life. The experience they settled on was one that was quite outside the realm of the out of the box Flex components.
Many designers and developers have this notion that Flex is somehow limiting in terms of interface design possibilities, but it really is not at all. It is just a new environment that takes a little time to get used to, if you are coming at it from a Flash background.
There have been requests for us to share our experiences in developing this project, and we are considering doing just that in the near future. We are thinking of putting together a little article that will help Flash designer/developer types get around the usual workflow roadblocks that make Flex seem foreign and awkward. If anyone has questions about particular aspects of the Designer -> Flex Developer workflow, then please leave a comment, and we will do our best to address it.

hi,
nice app. found a little bug, if you have a showcase, that has no picture, it still shows the picture of the previous showcase. you can see this at the KBase showcase.
Cheers
I found a little bug too. If you log in incorrectly because you mistype your password for example, you get stuck. Correcting your password and trying to log in again just hangs there forever wither the processing mouse pointer. You have to refresh the screen to try again.
Other than that it looks great
